Branch Protection Configuration
Required settings for OSSF Scorecard compliance on main and dev branches.
Required Settings (GitHub UI: Settings -> Branches -> Add rule)
Protect matching branches
- Require a pull request before merging
- Require at least 1 approving review
- Dismiss stale PR approvals when new commits are pushed
- Require status checks to pass before merging
- Require branches to be up to date before merging
- Do not allow bypassing the above settings

Setup Instructions
- Go to repository Settings -> Branches
- Click Add branch protection rule
- Set "Branch name pattern" to
main - Configure the settings listed above
- Click Create
- Repeat for
devbranch
Why This Matters
OSSF Scorecard's Branch-Protection check verifies that:
- Direct pushes to protected branches are prevented
- Code review is required before merging
- Status checks must pass before merging
These settings help prevent accidental or malicious changes to production code.
